Working Skipper 1
Takes active instructor role in at least one class per year; basic sailing combined keelboat commitment. Optionally commits to practice sailing schedule.
Skippers may reserve the boat* - day sails only. Skipper should promote boat use and encourage participation among SEAS keelboat members.
Credentials - Westchester checkout. Club member in good standing - annual checkout.
Current Instructor Status - required.
Insurance - included as instructor status.
General preparation and seasonal maintenance required - skippers are expected to participate in commissioning/decommissioning and regular upkeep activities.
Damages - mostly not responsible for repair costs, although skippers are required to report any damage, and are personally responsible for up to $1000 toward any deductible or repair costs due to negligence.
Approximate River boundaries - TZ Bridge/upper Haverstraw bay.
Overnight - by class when applicable.
Guests - space permitting. If same guest rides more than twice, further rides require memberships in SEAS and SEAS Keelboat.

OPEN SKIPPER May have only two reservations open at any one time. MAY INCLUDE weekdays, weekends or holidayS.
WORKING SKIPPERS may have ONLY two reservations open at any one time BUT ONLY ONE ON A weekend or holiday.
Must always have boat back at dock at least 1/2 hour prior to other reservations or classes.
Open Skipper
Can take boat for leisure sailing with personal crew and guests when boat not scheduled for sailing education program.
Allows skippers to reserve the boat*.
Credentials - documentation and check ride - annual checkout.
Current Instructor Status - not required.
Insurance - required to provide $1,000,000 certificate liability and property damage to SEAS Westchester.
General preparation and seasonal maintenance not required. Specific policy protocols apply such as removal of all personal property and trash, insuring adequate fuel on board when leaving.
Damages - mostly responsible for repair costs. Skippers are required to report any damage. Normal wear and tear expected – damages incurred such as due to negligence of boat handling, motor abuse, poor docking, collisions, inadequately securing dock lines will be accountable.
Approximate River boundaries - Yonkers/Peekskill Bay.
Overnight - when not booked.
Guests - Can take boat for leisure sailing with personal crew and guests when not scheduled for education program*.
Limited to THREE Open skipper memberships.
SEAS Basic membership included in package.
